For Season 2 of ESPN’s Full Court Press, I served as cinematographer for the LSU unit, focusing on rising basketball star Flau’jae Johnson AKA BIG 4! This four-part docuseries follows three standout college athletes—Johnson (LSU), Kiki Iriafen (USC), and Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame)—on and off the court, capturing the pressures, triumphs, and humanity behind elite NCAA women’s basketball.
Working closely with the series directors and ESPN’s production team, I was responsible for shaping the visual language of Flau’jae’s arc. This included vérité-style coverage of practices, games, and dorm life, as well as intimate sit-down interviews with Flau’jae, her family, and coaching staff. I approached each setup with an eye toward authenticity and clarity, using natural lighting and fluid camera movement to maintain the pace and emotional honesty the series required.
The result is a dynamic and grounded portrait of a young athlete navigating both the spotlight and the everyday challenges of life as a student and a star.
